HIGHLIGH HISTORY OF KATAGUM STUDENTS ASSOCIATION
The actual history of katagum educated brothers association as it was initially referred to, cold be dated bade to 1957 at Barewa college, in the city of Zaria under the principles formulated by some eminent personalities including, prof Dauda Bagari , prof Abdu Ibrahim, JusticeDahiru Saleh mallam adamu Madara late Ibrahim yaya katagum among others in collaboration with their contemporaries, Alh Sule katagum and Dr. Aminu Saleh of the British college. However, the existence of this respected personalities resulted in to a tremendous positivity to the great people of katagum by assessing the level of education of individuals through organizing quiz competitions and giving career guidance and counseling, as well as voluntary extra moral lesson geared toward societal development. These were delivered by their assisting association including Mal. Haruna Bello, Mal. Garba Basko, Mal. Abdullahi Magaji among others at Baba Kafinta Primary School Azare which started in 1998 as organized by “Katagum forum”. This forum is the brainchild of K.S.A as it presently serves as the parent umbrella, guide and support for activities of K.S.A. The forum is a composition of former K.S.A activities and Alumni who now are well established in the society. The forum came around following inactive nature of K.S.A in the early 1980s until 2004. Efforts at reviving the activities of K.S.A were effectively achieved by Comr. Adamu, a onetime president of the association.
By way of impacts K.S.A has used part of the donation that individuals contributed to the association to shoulder the responsibility of distributing bodies, kettles, mats to some Islamic schools and other alike.
Katagum students association does maintain a historic tradition of activities and strives to actualize the following programs all year round eventually. Every last week of February quiz completions were organized for forming schools, two weeks after that is, the third week of month, and the same event is slated for secondary schools. Consequently, on May 27, which coincide with children day celebration K.S.A puts in place, a befitting pelage to mark the day. Career guidance and cancelling for secondary school students holds subsequently other subsidiary event include launching of magazine or almanac which prepares the good for the yearly convention holiday every December.
Lastly, the arrival of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, zaria as the first and the last university in the northern Nigeria, the largest citadel of learning in sub-Saharan, Africa made it possible for the founders of the association to adhere to those principles formulated earlier at Barewa college in the university.
2016/2017 K.S.A ACHIEVEMENTS UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF COM. UMAR BIN SA’ID
7 Children’s day celebration; Being it a historic tradition of K S A to put in a befitting pelage and contribute towards actualizing the programmer. This administration played a tremendous role in marking the day.
8 Students Registration; K S A as part of its effort toward societal development shouldered the responsibility of paying the jamb registration fee of less privileged citizens.
9 K S A week; the association engaged in celebrating the 60th anniversary of existence order, this administration which is the first of its land in the history of the association. The celebration was scheduled as follows;
i) First day; kick off rally/anti malaria campaign.
ii) Second day; capacity building workshop: this programme was aimed at building the capacity of young katagumites portaged through intellectually sound presentation.
iii) Third day; sport activities: student interested in playing football, table tennis etc. were also carried along during the celebration. The football competition was among the local government within katagum zone while table tennis competition runs across student of various institutions of learning.
iv) Fourth day public lecture; the last day of the week end with a symposium gathering where relanoun academicians dealt with different heart touching topics that matters our society
